Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong, March 2011

Experimental Laser Show for the City of Leipzig in conjunction with the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2011

Concept

Sound equals light was an experimental laser show projected onto the wall of the Hong Kong Cultural Center facing Victoria Harbour during March, 2011. The ten minute show visualized three short segments of music from performances of the Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Leipzig Opera, and the Thomanerchor during the 2011 Hong Kong Arts Festival. The show provided a visual spectacle for audiences on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, the boat traffic on the harbour, as well as spectators from Hong Kong Island. At the same time, the city of Leipzig and the performances of the Leipzig musical institutions were brought to the attention of the Hong Kong public and visiting tourists. While the show was meant to peak the viewers' interest and could be enjoyed without the corresponding sound, viewers were able to listen to synchronized music, which could be streamed through a mobile Internet device
